Metropolis shooting victims identified

METROPOLIS, Ill. – Metropolis Police have identified the victims in an overnight shooting as 34-year-old Josh Carper and 21-year-old Angela Fike, both of rural Metropolis.

The victims were taken to Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah following an incident in Metropolis shortly after midnight in which they were struck with shotgun pellets. Their conditions are listed as non-critical.

METROPOLIS, Ill. – Metropolis Police are investigating a shooting that left two people injured.

At approximately 12:07 a.m., callers reported that a person had been shot on the 1200 block of Ferry Street.

Responding officers found two victims, one male and one female, who had each been struck by shotgun pellets. They were transported to Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah. Their injuries are said not to be life-threatening.

Witnesses described a light colored van that had left the scene. The investigation is continuing and Metropolis Police say there are "promising leads."
