NRC authorizes full operations at Honeywell plant in Metropolis
METROPOLIS, Ill. - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the Honeywell plant in Metropolis, Illinois can resume full operations.
NRC Region II Administrator Victor McCree says the facility has "taken the necessary actions to meet the NRC requirements" following an inspection of the plant.
The plant shut down in May 2012 following an NRC inspection of the facility, laying off 228 employees. Front-end operations resumed last month. At that time, Honeywell officials said they hoped for a full relaunch by July.
No start date has been given for full operations to resume at the plant.
