METROPOLIS, Ill. - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting Tuesday to discuss the changes made to the Honeywell plant in Metropolis, Illinois.

The NRC ordered Honeywell to shut down in May 2012. The company had to make several improvements to make the facility stable during an earthquake or a tornado.

Last week, the NRC told the company that full operations could resume again at the plant.

Tuesday's meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center at 900 West 10th Street in Metropolis. Staff from the NRC will be available to answer questions related to the agency's oversight of the facility.

The NRC has set up a toll free phone line for anyone unable to attend in person. The information is available by contacting Nick Peterka at (404) 997-4556 or Richard Gibson at (404) 997-4718.
