The new span of the Eggners Ferry Bridge is expected to be put into place sometime today. The process will put crews one step closer to meeting their deadline to reopen the bridge.

The 200-ton steel replacement span arrived at the Eggners Ferry Bridge just before 6:00 p.m. Monday.

There were plenty of people wanting to watch the bridge span arrive.  Many brought binoculars to the Ken Lake State Resort Park to watch as the span arrived, while others watched from nearby boats.

Hall Construction faces a looming May 27th deadline, which is the Sunday before Memorial Day.  They face a $50,000 fine each day after that date if the bridge is not ready for traffic.
