PACRO board: We will correct our open meeting violation
PADUCAH, Ky. - Paducah Mayor Gayle Kaler says Wednesday's Paducah Area Community Reuse Organization subcommittee meeting and the actions taken were illegal.
"The first thing to be transparent in my opinion is to admit your mistakes," she told Local 6.
Allegations of a violation of open meeting laws came to light when there was no agenda sent to the public or the media. Kaler says it was a mistake.
"It was not an intentional violation of open records," Kaler said.
Kaler calls it an oversight. She also put blame on the Purchase Area Development District, the current administrative arm of the full PACRO board.
"The administrator is supposed to keep us straight with the law," she said.
At Thursday's meeting, Kaler called for two meetings next week. One with the contract subcommittee and one with the full PACRO board. No formal action - or votes - were taken during Thursday's committee meeting. Kaler wants the boards to reconvene next week and follow the law.
"It's just one of those things that just slipped through. It's not intentional. We want to make it right," Kaler told Local 6.
