Paducah couple accused of staging video store robbery to steal cash
PADUCAH, Ky. - A Paducah couple is in jail after police say they staged a robbery at a local video store to make off with the cash themselves.
Paducah Police say 22-year-old Jasmine Lemus was working at Family Video on Lone Oak Road around midnight early Friday. She called police to report an armed robbery, claiming she was held at gunpoint while two white men stole money from the register.
After questioning, Lemus later admitted that she and her husband, 20-year-old Felipe Lemus, made up the armed robbery and stole the money.
Felipe Lemus told police he threw the money out in a wooded area along Lone Oak Road. The money was recovered around 6 a.m.
Jasmine Lemus is charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident while Felipe Lemus is charged with felony Theft by Unlawful Taking. Both are in the McCracken County Jail.
PADUCAH, Ky. - The Paducah Police Department is investigating after items were stolen from a local video store.
Detective Anthony Copeland says they were called to the Family Video on Lone Oak Road around midnight for a robbery.
The investigation found the suspects were not armed, but items were taken. It is not yet known what exactly was taken from the store.
Copeland says arrests have been made.
