Paducah man arrested after overnight pharmacy burglary

PADUCAH, Ky. - A Paducah man is in jail after he allegedly broke into a local pharmacy overnight.

Police arrested 20-year-old Aaron D. Thompson after a witness gave police a description of the man he saw running from Rick's Pharmacy after the break-in.

An officer found Thompson a short distance away. Police say Thompson dropped items he was holding and ran when he saw the police car.

Thompson was arrested after a short chase and charged with 3rd degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of a radio that sends/ receives police messages and fleeing police.

Among the items dropped by Thompson during the pursuit were a crowbar and more than $1,000 worth of hydrocodone. Thompson told the officer that he brought a crowbar with him to break into the pharmacy.

Thompson is in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
