Paducah man in jail after Sunday evening shooting

PADUCAH, Ky. - A Paducah man is in jail after a shooting outside the victim's home on Alben Barkley Drive.

Police arrested 64-year-old Donald Patterson and charged him with first-degree assault.

Police say the incident occurred after a fight involving several people over the weekend. Patterson allegedly shot 19-year-old Allen Atkins and left the scene. Patterson was later questioned at the police department, where he admitted to having shot Atkins.

Atkins was flown to a hospital in Evansville, Indiana and is listed in good condition.
