Webster County murder suspect captured in Illinois

UPDATE: At approximately 08:50 a.m., Illinois State Police in conjunction with the Kentucky State Police, arrested 41 year-old, Billy C. Utley.

Utley was located at the Cave-In-Rock Motel in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois. Illinois State Police surrounded the motel and Utley surrendered without incident. He was taken to the Hardin County Illinois Detention Center awaiting extradition to Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police are looking for a man they're calling "armed and dangerous" in Western Kentucky.

According to police, the search stems from a murder in Wheatcroft, KY, which is in Webster County. 

Police are looking for 41-year-old, Billy C. Utley.  Troopers say Utley shot and killed his estranged wife, Theresa A. Utley, with a high-powered rifle Tuesday evening.

After arriving on the scene, authorities found Theresa Utley dead inside of a vehicle.

Detectives followed up on several leads in Webster, Union and Henderson counties.

According to WTVW, Kentucky State Police obtained a search warrant for his family's farm outside Morganfield, Kentucky, about 20 minutes away from the crime scene.  Kentucky State Police Sargent Jason Newby says investigators found boxes of ammunition for a hand gun and a high-powered rifle.

WTVW also reports that investigators  found a military-style hut on the property as well as Utley's car.  Investigators say witnesses reported seeing Utley leaving the area with a high-powered rifle and what they described as a large scope.

Utley is described as a white male, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, about 140 pounds, with blue eyes.
