PADUCAH - Scammers claiming to represent Paducah Federal Credit Union are calling people across the Local 6 area trying to steal their money.
People are getting calls on their cell phones and on the other end is a recorded message telling the person their debit card account is either blocked or deactivated. The message then prompts the caller to press a button to give someone a card number and their pin.
Paducah Federal Credit Union's Dale Adams said this is a scam and he has received calls about the issue.
"We've been inundated with phone calls from not only members but also many of them who are not even members of our credit union," Adams said. "It's obviously very frustrating to us. We live in a mean world these days, so to speak. But, fortunately, getting the word out like you guys are doing, that does help people."
Adams added that Paducah Federal Credit Union, as well as other professional financial institutions, would never ask for sensitive information over the phone.
If you've been targeted by this scam and have provided that information, you're urged to call Paducah Federal Credit Union at (270) 443-5261.
