LYON COUNTY, Ky. - A 9 year old little boy has been missing since before 5 p.m. Wednesday night, and the longer he's gone the more people join the search.

It's happening near Kuttawa Beach in Lyon County.

Crews got the call about 5:00 Wednesday afternoon that Warren Patterson was missing and have been searching ever since.

Patterson was at the beach area with family members.  They were jet-skiing with family and was dropped off on the shore.  Patterson was last seen at a playground that's about 30 yards from the water.
Police were told the family members lost sight of him and then Warren was gone.

No one is sure if he wandered into the nearby neighborhood, if he went down by the water, or if someone picked him up and drove off.

Volunteers showed up to join the 40 or so trained rescuers.  They got instructions on how to walk a search line and what to look for.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife have a boat in the water and so does Marshall County's Search and Rescue.  They are using sonar to scan the bottom of the lake.

There are also divers in the water.

On foot, the wooded area has been searched and the neighborhood is being searched now. The Kentucky State Police couldn't tell Local 6 how big of an area is being searched, but did want to pass some advice along to anyone in the area.

"Keep your eyes open.  If they see this little boy wandering around who looks like he doesn't know where he belongs, looking to find a way home," Trooper Bryan Dawson said.

Kentucky State Police told Local 6 they want to talk with the driver of a black pick-up truck seen at the playground area around 5 p.m.  Investigators say the white male had a pit bull or labrador-type dog with him.  They say the man may have gotten into a verbal fight with someone near the playground.  He may not be involved.  Nonetheless, state police want to talk with him.

Warren Patterson is 9 years old and was last seen wearing blue jean shorts witout a shirt.  Police say he could be anywhere in the community.

There are huge lights set up along the shore and a tent acting as a comman post.  The Lyon County Emergency Manager is calling the shots and leading the search, which looks like it will go late into the night. No one wants to stop until this little boys found.

KSP is asking that no more untrained volunteers come out at this point. They appreciate the offer and the concern but at thia point in the dark ita hard to keep track of everyone.

If anyone has seen Patterson, please contact the Kentucky State Police toll free in Kentucky at 1-800-222-5555.
