Body of missing 3-year-old found in Ohio River

UPDATE (8:19 p.m.)  Kentucky State Police informed Local 6 Tuesday evening that an autopsy on Carter Nall revealed the cause of death as accidental drowning.

Also, no charges have been filed against the parents.

UNION COUNTY, Ky. - The body of a 3-year-old western Kentucky boy who had been missing since Sunday was found late Monday night.

Crews found the body of Carter Nall in the Ohio River around 11 p.m.

The boy was enjoying a day with family on the river in Caseyville on Sunday afternoon. Authorities believe he went into the river without a life vest.

Monday marked day two of the search. Crews used advanced sonar technology in an attempt to locate Carter. Community members who owned boats also joined in the search.

Carter's family says they're grateful for everyone who searched and prayed that he would turn up alive.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Corey King says an autopsy date is pending at this time. The investigation into what happened continues.

UNION COUNTY, Ky. - The search for a 3-year-old boy who has been missing since Sunday is continuing into Monday afternoon.

Carter Nall went missing around 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

Union County, Kentucky Emergency Management Director Vernon Martin says the rescue squad launched boats into the Ohio River between Caseyville and the Shawneetown, Illinois bridge. Crews also searched on land in case the boy walked off.

The search was called off at 2 a.m. Monday and continued at 8 a.m.
