PADUCAH, Ky. - Political newcomer Matt Bevin will make his first trip to western Kentucky since announcing his candidacy for the United States Senate.

The tea party candidate, who will challenge Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell in 2014, will speak at the National Quilt Museum at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Bevin has also planned stops in Owensboro and Bowling Green.

Bevin has already launched an ad against McConnell. The McConnell campaign, meanwhile, launched an ad of its own against Bevin.

Bevin will join McConnell and Democratic candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes at next weekend's Fancy Farm Picnic.
