 These are the six things you need to know for your day in news today, Wednesday, January 22nd.

  1. Murray State University may be expanding. In his Budget Address last night, Governor Steve Beshear proposed $50 million to build and renovate buildings on campus.
  2. Two construction projects in our area are also part of the plan. The Governor proposed $1 Billion for the bridge completion over Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake, and the conversion of the Pennyrile and Purchase Parkways into Interstate 69.
  3. The constructions on the I-24 Ohio River Bridge isn't expected to wrap up until this summer. Brookport Police say more drivers are using the Brookport Bridge instead. The Department is currently hiring to manage the traffic situation.
  4. The American Red Cross need blood donations. There will be a blood drive today from 10:30-3:30 at the Hardin County High School in Elizabethtown, Illinois.
  5. The blast of winter weather is freezing up fuel supplies and driving up prices. In Kentucky, propane gas now costs $2.06 per gallon.
  6. Today marks the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade. The US Supreme Court Case legalized access to abortion for women throughout the country.
