PADUCAH, Ky. - Returning to his roots.

Christian music artist Steven Curtis Chapman came to his hometown of Paducah, Kentucky Monday evening for a meet and greet with some of his oldest and biggest fans.

The line of music lovers wrapped around the Cracker Barrel Country Store where Chapman's newest album, 'Deep Roots,' is being exclusively sold.

He gave kind words, took pictures, and also signed copies of his album for fans.

Chapman says this album is inspired by the music he learned growing up in Paducah and reflects his southern roots more than any other he's recorded in his career.

he says he enjoys events like this, especially here at home.

"I wrote the song hoping I'd meet these people and that I'd encourage them. Then they tell me wow that the music really encouraged me. So, meeting them is always a real gift for me and I'm real grateful for it," Chapman said.

Chapman is staying busy in the recording studio, working on a new album scheduled to come out in October.  No word on whether that tour will stop in Paducah.
