MURRAY, Ky. - Murray State basketball player Zay Jackson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after a guilty plea to two counts of first degree wanton endangerment.
Jackson entered the plea and received the sentence in Calloway Circuit Court this morning.
The wanton endangerment charges are downgrades from the initial charges of assault.
In addition to jail time, Jackson must also write an apology letter to the victims, perform community service and attend anger management classes.
Jackson's attorney Gary Haverstock did much of the talking, telling the judge the plea deal will allow Jackson to continue his education once he has served his 30-day sentence.
Jackson will begin serving jail time immediately. Formal sentencing will take place October 22 at 8:30 a.m.
