MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. — Two teenagers are among 14 people swept up in a local prostitution sting.

This all started a week ago when the McCracken County Sheriff's Department was tipped off about prostitution happening around town.

An undercover detective made contact with two girls and arrested them Tuesday. Their boyfriends were with them and were arrested on promoting prostitution charges.

The teens confessed to deputies this was at least their 10th encounter in the last month. They also told the detectives about the website BackPage.com.

From that website, detectives found multiple ads looking for sex, including ones from Angela Harris and Lori Mayfield. On Wednesday, they were arrested on prostitution charges.

Samantha Seward also had an ad. She was arrested on possesion of marijuana.

Kevin Adams was found and arrested on promoting prostitution charges.

Adams, Mayfield and Seward pleaded guilty and are serving jail time.

Harris pleaded not guilty. She's due back in court July 24.

McCracken County sheriff's deputies created their own ad on BackPage.com. Undercover detectives said within minutes, tons of text messages and phone calls came in answering the ad.

"It's something similar to what we've seen in the past with Craigslist," said one undercover detective. "I feel like they've kind of picked up where Craiglist left off."

That ad led to the arrests of Eddie Moore, Guled Farah and Christopher McWaters. All three face soliciting prostitution charges.

Farah pleaded guilty, and is serving two weeks in jail.

Moore and McWaters pleaded not guilty. McWaters is due back in court July 25. Moore's next appearance is July 31.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department assisted in Thursday's arrests, along with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

Be warned, the McCracken County undercover detectives said they plan to continue to monitor the BackPage.com website and others like it.
