BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - A firefighter has been injured while rescuing two teenagers from a south-central Kentucky river when their small fishing boat became stuck on rocks in rapidly moving water.

The Daily News of Bowling Green reported that 16-year-olds Zack Sowders and Gage Lee of Bowling Green were safely rescued about 9:30 a.m. CDT Monday.

The teens went onto Barren River about 6:30 a.m., but their motor lost power near some of the rockiest conditions on the river.

Newspaper photos of the rescue show a Bowling Green Fire Department firefighter on his back being swept into the river and swimming toward shore, where a fellow rescuer grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the water.
