Troy Nelson sentenced to one year in jail, $10K fine for improperly maintaining records
PADUCAH, Ky. - A Paducah doctor has been sentenced for failing to properly maintain records.
A judge sentenced Troy Nelson to one year in jail and a $10,000 fine. Nelson recently pled guilty to 20 misdemeanor counts of Failing to Keep Mandated Records.
Nelson was investigated by the DEA and Kentucky State Police after allegations regarding his prescribing practices surfaced in 2010.
The Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure later conducted its own investigation and suspended Nelson's medical license in 2012.
Nelson can no longer prescribe, dispense or administer controlled substances.
He is serving his sentence in the McCracken County Jail.
