MARTIN, Tenn. - Following scandal from a hazing incident, the Alpha Tau Omega chapter at the University of Tennessee at Martin has been called to close.

The close is after the denial of a final appeal from the hazing incident.

The university Chancellor, Tom Rakes denied the appeal, and notified the chapter in a letter dated January 27th.

The national fraternity replied with a letter stating that they had started the process of revoking the chapter's charter.

In the hazing incident, a pledge class member was hit by a vehicle while walking along a rural road with three other pledge class members in Weakley County.

Following university investigation, there were violations of student conduct, including endangering another person and participation in hazing.
