FRANKFORT, Ky. - Unemployment rates rose in 88 of Kentucky's 120 counties between June 2012 and June 2013.

The Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet says rates decreased in 26 counties and remained the same in the other six counties.

Unemployment rates in the commonwealth range from 6.5 percent in Woodford County to 18.5 percent in Magoffin County. Fulton County has, by far, the highest rate in the Local 6 area at 17 percent.

The statewide unemployment rate rose slightly in that time span, increasing to 8.4 percent last month from 8.3 percent in June 2012. The national unemployment rate is 7.6 percent.
