METROPOLIS , Ill. - A wall at a local church that was in the process of being rebuilt collapsed Friday morning, injuring a person who was inside.

Volunteers were at Weaver Creek Baptist Church, formerly Upper Salem Baptist Church, repairing the building when a wall collapsed. One person, believed to be a man in his 60s from North Carolina, was injured. He is expected to be OK.

Local 6 has learned the victim was part of a group of about 20 people working to rebuild the church.

The church was damaged in May 2012 by fire and again by winds in June 2013.

We have a crew on the scene and we'll provide updates as they become available.
