Update 10:40 Thursday 8/02/2012

Illinois State Police say the infant that was found dead in the Ohio River in Gallatin County was a 17 month old girl. The mother was in the truck with her infant when the baby kicked the gear shift causing the truck to start rolling toward the river. The mother's boyfriend, fishing at the time, tried to stop the truck and was run over. The mother tried to unhook the child from the car seat as the truck entered the river. Police say the truck sank 60 feet as the father dove into the water to help. The mother was able to escape.

The conditions of the mother and her boyfriend are unknown at this time.

Police do not suspect foul play.

An autopsy on the infant will be conducted by the White County Coroner.
