WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. - Williamson County Sheriff Bennie Vick is warning the public of a scam perpetrated by a woman who claims to have a husband in the military.

A white female has been approaching customers at area gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants asking for money. The woman says her husband is in the military and is either getting ready to deploy or is returning from a deployment. She then asks for money so she can travel to see him.

If anyone is approached by a person with this story, they are encouraged to contact their local police department or the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office at 997-6541.
