UNION COUNTY, IL - A local murder suspect tries to escape from jail, only to be caught the same way they found him the first time.

Police in Chikasaw, Miss., arrested Michael Ellis, 26 of Elkville, Ill., Sunday morning at a highway checkpoint.  He is wanted in Union County for killing Gerald Dziczkowski, 57 of rural Dongola, last month.

While in custody, Ellis escaped from the Chikasaw County Jail.  Officials re-arrested him when he was trying to pass through another highway checkpoint.

Ellis arrived at the Tri-County Jail in Ullin, Ill., Wednesday afternoon.  He heads to Union County Circuit Court Friday at 8:30 a.m.
