GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. - Sheriff's deputies have apprehended two men they believe shot and injured three people in rural Graves County late Tuesday night.
Authorities arrested two men a few hours apart Wednesday morning after the men allegedly shot and injured three people in rural Graves County. Kenon Andrews and Jacob Carder are charged with 3 counts of attempted murder in the home invasion on Rule Shack Rd.
According to Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon, the two suspects opened fire at the house late Tuesday night. Four people were in the house at the time of the shooting, and three of those people suffered gunshot wounds.
The one person that was not injured called 911 and alerted authorities of the incident. Sheriff's deputies arrived on scene as the two suspects were fleeing the property. The suspects led the deputies on a chase until they eventually crashed their vehicle near the intersection of KY 339 and KY 1748 in Dublin.
After the crash, both suspects fled on foot. Around 3:00 a.m. residents along Dublin Hill Road heard a disturbance. When they awoke, they released their dogs who then cornered 29-year-old Water Valley resident Kenon Andrews until police arrived on scene. He was apprehended immediately upon their arrival.
Graves Co. and McCracken Co. Sheriff's Deputies, Mayfield Police, Kentucky State Police, and Fish and Game Wardens searched for the other suspect, 28-year-old Jacob Carder, for several hours before a community tip led them to an area along railroad tracks near Dublin. Carder was taken into custody without any additional incident.
At this point we do not know the names of the victims, but according to Sheriff Redmon, the victims suffered serious injuries and after initial treatment at Jackson Purchase Medical Center, were flown to a regional hospital trauma center. At last word, they were in critical condition.
Andrews was also transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center after complaining of injuries from the automobile wreck before being taken to the Graves County Jail and charged with 3 counts of attempted murder.
Authorities have also told us the homeowner was not home at the time of the shooting, but his friend was at the house along with several others. The homeowners friend, a female, was one of the three people shot. The other two victims are one female and one male.
