A warning for tornado victims needing help from contractors
Brookport, Ill.- Volunteers are set to start work in Brookport, Illinois Wednesday and while city leaders hope there's a nice big turnout, there is still some concern about some people coming to town for the wrong reasons.
He said contractors will be required to check in at City Hall and the County Clerk's office before contacting anyone. He said they'll need to have permits on them at all time.
"That needs to be presented to every property owner before that property owner contracts for any work to be done," he said.
David Black with Ray Black and Son construction has a few tips for anyone needing help and the first one is to hire local.
Call added that the city has some ordinances that define building standards. He believes that having them will mean the structures that do get rebuilt, will be stronger than before.
