Fatal car accident leaves one man dead

WAYNE COUNTY, Ill. — Illinois state police are investigating a fatal accident that left one person dead just before 5:30 Friday evening.

Troopers say 52-year-old Richard Stehlick of Belleville, Illinois, tried to reach an emergency turn around by crossing both lanes of traffic on I-64 East about half a mile from mile post 104. 

Christopher Sutton was driving a tractor trailer eastbound on I-64, and wast able to stop in time. 

Sutton t-boned Stehlick's truck, and Stehlick was ejected from the vehicle. Stehlick was pronounced dead at the scene.
