Honeywell Metropolis plant recalling remaining union workers
METROPOLIS, Ill - The Honeywell uranium conversion facility is recalling the remaining union workers on the recall list to meet its 2014 production targets.
This is a significant milestone for the plant as the recall will return the plant to full operations after the shutdown in May 2012.
The timing of this recall for the plant will allow time for training, certification, and time to ready the support of the plant's operations in January.
Since the shutdown, the company has invested more than $40 million to upgrade the facility so it can withstand severe weather such as an earthquake or tornado.
Due to the rebuilding efforts, the Metropolis plant has managed to restart operations and preserve 275 full-time jobs with competitive pay and benefits.
