ISP: Manhunt halted, reported abduction "contained erroneous information"

UPDATE (9:40 p.m.) - Illinois State Police and the Johnson County State's Attorney's Office have called off the search for an armed man believed to be involved in an alleged assault at Fern Clyff State Park.

State police say the report they received about a woman being abducted at gunpoint "contained erroneous information."  As a result, they've halted the search for the man.

Investigators believe the public is no longer in danger.

The incident, however, is still under investigation.

Illinois State Police confirm there is an investigation going on in the Fern Clyffe State Park area.

Investigators would not release information on the incident that happened there, but said state police are looking for a man they believe is armed and dangerous.

They describe the man as a 30 year old white male with brown hair and acne scarrs on his face.

He was last seen wearing a white tshirt with the sleeves cut out and blue jeans.
