WICKLIFFE, Ky. - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will hold two meetings this week to discuss options for improving or replacing the US 51 Ohio River Bridge between Wickliffe, Kentucky and Cairo, Illinois.

Options that are being considered for the river crossing are rehabilitation of the existing bridge, replacement of the bridge at its current location or building a new bridge at a new location.

The first meeting is Monday night from 4-7 p.m. at Cairo High School on Sycamore Street. The second meeting will be held Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. in the community room at the Ballard Center on West Kentucky Drive in La Center, Kentucky.

Currently, the bridge carries about 5,400 vehicles per day across the Ohio River.
