Man allegedly pulls loaded gun on police; no shots fired

HERRIN, Ill. - A burglary investigation took a dangerous turn in Herrin, Illinois early Wednesday morning when a suspect pulled a loaded gun on a police officer.

Police say 36-year-old James Bell of Herrin was walking in the middle of the roadway on South 18th Street when he was ordered by an Energy officer to remove his hands from his pockets.

He first refused to comply, then raised a hangun towards the officer.

The officer gave Bell one final warning to drop the gun, and he finally complied.

Bell is charged aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and is currently in the Williamson County Jail.
