MARION, Ill. - A plea deal agreement led to life in a prison cell for a southern Illinois man... at least for the next 14 years.

Williamson County Judge John Speroni handed the sentence down to 26-year-old Dominique Smith Wednesday.

Smith faced charges in the death of 46-year-old Marcus Monroe.

In July 2011, Smith took part in a shooting outside Pips 2 Bar.  A ricocheted bullet from his gun hit and killed Monroe.

At that time, Smith was charged with 1st Degree Murder, but agreed to plead guilty to Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, a lesser charge.
