Pedestrian found pinned under vehicle, driver faces charges
ENERGY, Ill. - A woman is hospitalized and another is in jail after police say a driver ran over a pedestrian with a car at a southern Illinois business.
The Energy Police Department says 43-year-old Sherri Branch was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of Casey's General Store on Monday evening.
Officers found Branch pinned under the vehicle when they arrived at the scene. Branch was taken to Herrin Hospital and later flown to St. Louis, where she is in stable condition.
The driver of the vehicle, 41-year-old Tracy Hardcastle, fled on foot, but was caught a short time later and arrested. Hardcastle was charged with Driving While License Revoked, DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Resisting a Peace Officer.
Hardcastle was also wanted on outstanding warrants in Saline and Jackson counties for larceny and credit card fraud.
