JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. - A southern Illinois prosecutor says he will not file charges in the investigation of last year's shooting death of Molly Young.

The 21-year-old was found dead on March 24, 2012 in the apartment of a police dispatcher she had dated.

Jackson County State's Attorney Michael Carr says he has reviewed evidence in the case and he is not convinced a crime was committed.

Carr adds, however, that the investigation is not closed.

Since Young's death, there has been a "Justice for Molly" campaign in southern Illinois by members of the community who believe she was murdered.

The coroner ruled in January that he did not have enough evidence to determine if Young's death from a gunshot wound was a suicide, homicide or accidental.
