Quinn announces $1.29 million resurfacing project for US 51 in Alexander County
CAIRO, Ill. - Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn announced a $1.29 million road project for US 51 near Cairo.
The project will include patching and resurfacing a 3.5-mile stretch the highway from about one mile west of Interstate 57 to 34th Street.“
"This project will help traffic flow in Alexander County,” Gov. Quinn said. “The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy."
E.T. Simonds Construction Company of Carbondale won the contract for the project after submitting a bid of $1,293,726.
