HERRIN, Ill. - Researchers have begun digging in one part of the Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin, Illinois.

The diggers are looking for victims of the Herrin Massacre, which took place in the 1920s. The victims were buried in a particular part of the cemetery known as block 15.

Diggers found the remains of a woman from the 1930s while preparing a spot for burial. They believe rows of people were buried on top of older graves.

Friday morning's dig did not turn up any human remains.
