CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - The presidential search committee for Southern Illinois University hopes to have a list of candidates to bring to the university's board by Jan. 9.
The Southern Illinoisan in Carbondale reports the search committee met for the third time Thursday in Carbondale.
They're working to find a replacement for Glenn Poshard, who says he's retiring in June.
Committee chairwoman Donna Manering says the panel is on track, but she adds that if the pool of applicants isn't sufficient in January, the panel can continue searching.
The committee discussed issues raised in recent public forums including lack of faculty participation in the search process, morale and service cuts.
Manering says the next SIU president should have a vision for the university and the region.
