Saline County crash sends woman to hospitalCARMI, Ill. - A crash in Saline County sent one area woman to the hospital on Monday. Illinois State Police (ISP) report the wreck occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. According to troopers, the multi-vehicle traffic crash was on IL RT 34 at Mt. Moriah Rd. The crash involved a 2004 International truck tractor, semi-trailer combination and a 2001 Pontiac passenger vehicle. Preliminary traffic crash investigation indicated that the driver of the Freightliner, 42-year-old David B. Rainwaters, of Sacramento, Ky., was traveling north on Route 34 approaching the intersection with Mt. Moriah Rd. when it struck the rear of a Pontiac passenger car. The driver of the Pontiac, 44-year-old Kandice D. Mason, of Enfield, Ill., was slowing in traffic to turn west onto Mt. Moriah Rd. Ms. Mason was transported to Harrisburg Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the traffic crash. Mr. Rainwaters was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. |
