HARRISBURG, Ill. - It was February 29th last year when the "Leap Day" tornado hit Harrisburg, Illinois.

The EF-4 storm left a trail of destruction that claimed 15 lives, eight in Harrisburg alone.

All of them were remembered during a candlelight vigil at Southeastern Illinois College Wednesday night.

One of the victims, Jaylynn Ferrell was a recent SIC graduate.  Her parents were there along with a group of friends who first met Jaylynn in the school cafeteria, the same location as Wednesday night's vigil.

Danielle Moore said she's glad other classmates took time to remember her friend.

"It's just great to get together and get to see everybody.  It's not the happiest occasion but we definitely get to remember, but it's good memories, all good," Moore said.

Mayors from Harrisburg and Ridgway, Illinois spoke during the vigil.
