2 arrested after car chase in Hopkins County
HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Two men, including a fugitive wanted by U.S. Marshals, were arrested after a car chase in Hopkins County, Kentucky.
The Hopkins County Sheriff's Department says a deputy spotted 22-year-old William Hawkins driving on Princeton Street on Wednesday evening. Hawkins had a warrant for his arrest in the county.
Police say Hawkins sped up when the deputy began pursuing him. Hawkins was later found inside a trailer on Teague Bean Street, along with 31-year-old Joseph Franklin. The sheriff's department says Franklin is a fugitive wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Hawkins and Franklin were arrested without further incident. Hawkins faces several charges, including Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, Reckless Driving, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (Police Officer) and Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear. Franklin was charged with Fugitive from Justice.
Both suspects are in the Hopkins County Jail.
