Man Charged with Assault on Court Security Officer

By WPSD Producers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Louisville man has been charged with
hitting a court security officer after being turned away from
entering the federal building.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Dave Whalin on Monday ordered 29-year-old
LaPaze Brown held without bond pending a request for a psychiatric
evaluation. Brown is charged with assault on a federal officer and
simple assault.
U.S. marshals arrested Brown on Friday. Prosecutors say security
officers refused to allow Brown to enter the federal courthouse,
prompting him to try a different entrance. At the second entrance,
prosecutors say, Brown tried to run through security, then struck a
security officer who stopped him.
Prosecutors say Brown and two security officers wrestled to the
ground, where Brown was arrested.
