FULTON COUNTY, Ky.— A local neighborhood is on high alert after a series of seemingly random shootings. Fulton County Sheriff Bobby Hopper said, "That's what concerns me the most. I don't know if it is random. It could happen again."

Bullets blasted into a empty building and two homes in Fulton County over the weekend, and investigators still don't know who was behind the gun. They say it's a tough case to crack in an area that hasn't seen this kind of activity in years.

The first home is off State Route 309 and was hit around 3 a.m. Saturday. The second shooting happened Sunday at a home here less than half-a-mile away. The third shooting also happened on Sunday, across the street from the second home. Investigators say time and location may connect these crimes, and people who live in the area say they hope whoever is responsible is caught soon.

Carlos Barriantos and his family woke up early Saturday morning to the sound of gun shots. He said, "When I heard them two shots, I woke up, ran to the door to see if I see anything... But it was too late." Though Barriantos didn't see anything, Fulton County Sheriff Bobby Hopper said the shooter did leave some evidence behind. "We found the two lead cartridges that was in the first house that was shot into," he said.

A single bullet hole marks the door of the second house. Sheriff Hopper said, "It went through an aluminum screen door, a metal door, through a wall, kitchen cabinet, and out the back wall." The empty building across the street has the same mark. "I can't swear it's just a random shooting. Right now, I don't know what it is. That's what concerns me the most," said Sheriff Hopper.

It's a concern that's left Barriantos shaken. "Thank God nobody got hurt, but like I said... It done scared me like you don't understand."

There were five children in Barriantos' home at the time of the shooting. There were two people inside the second home, including an 11-month-old child. Sheriff Hopper said the person or group of people responsible could face attempted murder charges.

If you have any information about these crimes, you're asked to call The Fulton County Sheriff's Office. There is discussion of a possible reward considering the serious nature of these shootings.
