Asphalt rehab projects awarded to 45 counties across Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky - Governor Steve Beshear and the Kentucky Transporation Cabinet announced more asphalt rehabilitation projects Wednesday.  They total more than $64 million.

"Our highway system supports virtually everything we do in Kentucky in terms of economic development, commerce, jobs, education and recreation," Gov. Beshear said. "It represents an incalculable investment, and good stewardship requires that we keep it well-maintained."

Wednesday's announcement is the second round of projects awarded from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet so far this spring.  KYTC awarded more than $27 million in contracts in April.

Awarded projects in the Local 6 area include:

Ballard County - An 8-mile section of Wickliffe Road (KY 286) from 0.7 mile east of Deerfield Road to the county line. Jim Smith Contracting Company LLC was awarded the contract for $843,051. Completion date: Nov. 15, 2013.

Hickman County - A 0.36-mile section of Columbus-Berkley Road (KY 80) from KY 80 to the county line. Murray Paving Inc. was awarded the contract for $205,675. Completion date: Nov. 15, 2013.

McCracken County - Two contracts awarded:
-  A 3.6-mile section of Said Road (KY 131) from the county line to KY 284. Jim Smith Contracting Company LLC was awarded the contract for $522,141. Completion date: Nov. 15, 2013.

- Two sections of roadway including a 3.7-mile section of Ogden Landing Road (KY 358) from KY 996 to KY 305 and a 3.3-mile section of North Friendship Road (KY 1286) from U.S. 45 to KY 998. Jim Smith Contracting Company LLC was awarded the contract for $777,999. Completion date: Nov. 15, 2013.


Marshall County - Three sections of roadway including a 4.5-mile section of Paducah-Aurora Road (U.S. 68) from KY 962 to Jonathan Creek Bridge; a 1.3-mile section of Symsonia Highway (KY 348) from Walters Road to Phelps Road; and a 0.3-mile section of Aurora Highway (KY 402) from Clarks River Bridge to KY 962. Jim Smith Contracting Company LLC was awarded the contract for $677,154. Completion date: Nov. 15, 2013.
 

Trigg County - Two sections of roadway including a 3.7-mile section of Cadiz-Hopkinsville Road (U.S. 68, eastbound lanes only) from U.S. 68X to 0.2 mile west of KY 6054 and a 1.1-mile section of Old Dover Road (KY 1175) from KY 272 to U.S. 68. Rogers Group Inc. was awarded the contract for $721,391. Completion date: Nov. 15, 2013.
