Beshear orders flags to half-staff Wednesday to honor fallen Fort Campbell soldier

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has ordered all flags at state office buildings to half-staff Wednesday in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who recently died in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense says 26-year-old Sgt. Corey E. Garver, of Topsham, Maine, died in Afghanistan on June 23 from injuries caused by an improvised explosive device. Sgt. Garver was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team at Fort Campbell.

Funeral services for Sgt. Garver will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
