PADUCAH, Ky. - The Paducah Area Community Reuse Organization (PACRO) is working to reduce the negative impact of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant closure. However, it's going through some changes of its own.

The Purchase Area Development District (PADD) will end an administrative contract with PACRO on July 31. Meanwhile, Executive Director John Anderson announced he's retiring on August 1.

Officials with PADD says the funds in a revolving loan program created to bring jobs and development to the community have been obligated, ending PACRO's mission of diversifying the region's economy.

The group created 723 jobs and leveraged more than $45.4 million in projects. PACRO was created in 1997 with federal dollars in reaction to potential downsizing and restructuring of USEC. While they have worked immediately under PADD, they communicate directly with the Department of Energy.

The group's next move will be discussed Tuesday.
