PADUCAH, Ky. - $500,000.  That's how much the City of Paducah will pay for two acres of land in an effort by city leaders to alleviate traffic congestion in one busy area.

They approved an ordinance Tuesday night to purchase the land located along Concord Avenue for the Olivet Church Road Improvement Project.

In addition to widening Olivet Church Road, the plan calls for a new connector road to New Holt.

City leaders call the land purchase necessary for the construction of the new connector road near the very busy Kentucky Oaks Mall area.

The total cost of the project is $8.5 million.
