MARSHALL COUNTY, KY - Few things go together like fireworks and fourth of July. Unfortunately most communities have both cancelled their own displays and banned yours, threatening to make this year a dud. However, in a few places "the show must go on."
Among them is the Moors Resort and Marina in Marshall County, Kentucky. They've hosted a fireworks extravaganza for six years and this year is no different, except for a few added precautions to keep you safe.
"the fire department came out and used their fire boat and went around this point right here and pumped water on to it and so everything has been saturated and being surrounded by water we don't see any issue there," says Kathy & Mark Wood, the owners of Moors Resort and Marina.
Pyrotechnic Display Inc. out of Springfield, KY is putting on the event. They work year round but are busiest around the 4th of July. The hot temperatures and dry conditions have canceled several of their shows throughout the state but pyrotechnician David Hoffman says while these conditions are perfect they will be fine.
"Were surrounded by water and we have our extinguishers and they provide us with a fire department, everything is going to be fine. This is a show we've been waiting for and everyone will have a safe and great time," says Hoffman.
Moors Resort is expecting a big crowd so they're asking boat owners to be extra careful and patient when they head home.
