Fmr. McCracken County Sheriff passes away

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - Former McCracken County Sheriff Hal Cole passed away Thursday night.  That's according to the McCracken County Sheriff's Facebook page.

From 1967-1974, Cole served as a Deputy Sheriff.  He was elected sheriff in 1974.  He served in that position until 1978.  Before that, he served as a Paducah Police Officer.  He served from 1936-1966.

Cole also served two terms as a Paducah City Commissioner.

Sheriff Cole is survived by his wife Vickie of Kevil, a son, Hall Anthony Cole, a daughter, Patsy Cole of Alton, Illinois, and seven grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mildred Roper Cole.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department and the Paducah Police Department will be honoring his memory over the next several days.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, from 5 p.m.until 8 p.m.  The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 15, at 1 p.m.  Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Paducah is in charge of arrangements.

Cole was 99-years-old.
