Former teacher faces sex charges

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A former teacher and coach in western Kentucky is facing sex charges involving a teen.
The Messenger reports 24-year-old Samuel Yardley Hann pleaded not guilty this week to charges of sodomy, use of a minor in a sex performance, possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and use of electronic communication systems to procure a minor.
The newspaper reports Hann taught math at Browning Spring Middle School in Madisonville during the 2011-12 school year and part of the following year. He also coached football at the school and coached swimming at Hopkins County Central High school.
He resigned in February to take a job in a different state.
His next court hearing was set for July 12.
